Osmak, Evanka
Birthplace: Ridgewood, New Jersey
Birthdate: September 20, 1980
First media job: 2005- News Announcer at JACK-FM in Orillia
Career highlight: Jumping out of a plane and skydiving with the US Army's Golden Knights
Special interests/hobbies: Running, Tennis, Golf, Reading and Traveling

Bio in Evanka's own words: "I'm living the classic story of what happens when you follow your dream. 5 years ago if someone had told me that I would be working at Sportsnet, I probably would have laughed at them. Unless of course they told me I needed to help plan and build a new station for them. But here I am, working my absolute dream job. I couldn't have planned it more perfectly.

What most people might not know about me? I studied and worked in civil engineering for a few years, but then made a major career move into broadcasting... Within nine months I received my diploma in radio and television broadcasting, worked in radio in Orillia and then moved to Yuma, Arizona for a job at an NBC station. And after living in the hot, hot desert southwest for 2 years, I'm back to where it all started.

Sports have always been a big part of my life… on and off the field. Growing up I tried my hand in everything from soccer, synchronized swimming to field hockey and ultimate frisbee. As much as I love playing sports though, I think it's my talent of watching games that is really my calling. Over the years I've attended some great events from both Jays World Series wins, several NBA All-Star games to the Atlanta Olympics.

I am thrilled to be working at Sportsnet because it truly is a dream job for me. And it just goes to show you, as cliché as it sounds…. You have to follow your dream."

If A.J. opts out, let him go
It seems pretty clear that A.J. Burnett will not duplicate this year's numbers until he enters another contract year.

Roller coaster ride
Is it wrong that it's only two weeks into the baseball season and already I feel let down by the Jays? It's as if they enjoy toying with my emotions! Hmmm, sounds like another Toronto team (or two) that I know.

Snow day
It's not that I hate winter - I loathe it. There's nothing worse in my opinion than sub-zero temperatures, mountains of snow and blustery winds all mixed together.

Cheers and jeers
For Leafs’ fans, there have been plenty of opportunities for the boo-birds to break out their cry at the ACC this season. The home-ice advantage has definitely not worked in favour of the Buds, at least for the month of October. But just as fans cheer their team’s good plays, is it not the same passion that drives the devoted to jeer?
